Legend has it that King imported 4 dozen sets of rotary valve sets from Germany in the 1930's. Perhaps there were more made than 48, but not much more. The serial number suggest this Tuba was made in 1939. This is one of two King 4 Rotary Valve Tubas that I purchased from Texas Tech University a couple of years ago.
